Arn, and something else

So, today my brother and I went to see Arn with a bunch of the LARPers we hang out with. The movie was great, and I do recommend going to see it. It is based on the two first books of the Crusaders trilogy. Maybe I have to reread those too. The movie itself was beautiful. They had done some silly mistakes, but they were of the kind where you have to be a costume fanatic to see. They of course had cut some of my favorite scenes from the books. But they had merged the books well and managed to retell the story better than most novel to screen movies I have seen. The actors they had chose where for the most part amazing. The guy who played Arn after he just came out of the monestry had the proper innocent look. The older Arn looked torn between duty and love. The kid that was his squire were the best eyecandy I have seen in a while. Arn's father and brother looked amazing. Knut looked and acted exactly how I imagined him. The portrayal of the Norwegians were true to the book. They even mixed and matched some 4 or 5 different languages in Varnhem (latin, sweedish, french and english at least). The costumes were good and believeable, the types of animals and buildings the right kind. As was their weapons. Crude cross bows, flatbows and broad swords. Saladin's army had scimitars and lances. Heck even the lances where just sharpened pieces of wood. Which is accurate. The saddles looked amazing. I truly recomend this movie.
Now if you watch the trailer it might make you think fantasy. It is not. It is about the young folkunga boy Arn, who gets sent to become a monk. After many years in the monestry, he gets sent home and innocent as he is commits several crimes. One of which condems him to half a live time (2o years) in a monestry. And after some consideration the bishop decides that he is to go and become a Knight Templar. And that is about everything I am going to tell you. The story is great. And I am really looking forward to the next movie which is based on my favorite of the three books.

Now unto something less nice. Had my first fight with my parents this vacation. And it was with my mom. It was in the car on the way home. She had been pushing some jokes that I don't like. Like about my reading/spelling problems(which she treatened to keep joking about), and the one that made me snap was one on how I used to have crushes on everyone. Which is not true. I am allowed to have male friends, and talk about them with out her automatically jumping to that I have/had a crush on them. And I told her it has gone to far and that it hurt me. And I don't think she understood. But she understood that I was pissed and then got pissed back. So yeah.. Not nice.. I guess I am going to have to talk to her about it.
